Lecture Locations

At the Solent branch we are fortunate to have several partner organisation who kindly host our lecture evenings.

University of Southampton

Many lectures take place at the University of Southampton's Highfield campus, shown on the map below.

Most are held in the Murray Lecture Theatre, which is marked as building 58.  Access is gained from the South side of the building.  Others are held in one of the physics lecture theatres in the Physics Building, building 46.

The annual RJ Mitchell lecture takes place in the neighbouring Turner Sims Concert Hall, which is marked as building 52.

Parking at the University is generally free and widely available in any of the marked car parks after 6PM.

HMS Sultan

Some lectures are held at the Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival School at HMS Sultan in Gosport.  Lecture theatres vary but all must be accessed via Caledonia Gate on Military Road, from where directions will be provided.  Parking is available on-site.

As this is a military establishment there are security considerations.  Names and vehicle registrations of all attendees must be supplied in advance.

See the lecture description for further details.

Solent Sky Museum

The Solent Sky Museum often plays host to our AGM and annual historical lecture, where attendees can enjoy exploring the museum prior to the lecture.

The museum is situated on Albert Road South in Southampton with paid on-street parking available nearby.
