  Non-members as well as members of the RAeS are encouraged to attend and will receive a warm welcome at all Branch lecture evenings. There is no charge for any of the lectures, but a complimentary ticket, available on application to the secretary, will be required for the R J Mitchell Lecture.

Summary:   Colin van Geffen discusses Southampton's relationship with flying boats and seaplanes which stretched over forty-five years of exciting developments in aviation, leading to the founding of the first national airline.

Title:   Supersonic at 0ft – Thrust SSC
Lecturer:   Wing Commander Andy Green, OBE
    Andy's talents, which were signalled by his winning an RAF scholarship and a first in Mathematics at Oxford, have resulted in a very successful flying career that spans F4s, F3s, Qinetiq Farnborough, the UK’s Permanent Joint HQ, Deputy Station Commander at RAF Wittering and currently Whitehall.
Summary:   Andy Green joined the very select band of World Land Speed Record holders in 1997. In doing so, he became the first and only person to drive supersonically, in the process overcoming dramatic and unexpected ground effects.
